Making Connections: NEA Component

infoWhy this? The NEA enables students to pursue an independent investigation connecting a literary text with non-literary material through a shared theme or linguistic technique. It assesses their ability to select suitable data, undertake secondary reading, apply integrated methods, analyse meanings, consider contexts and establish illuminating connections. It also develops research, referencing and extended academic-writing skills.

scheduleWhy now? By the beginning of Year 2, students have encountered varied literary, non-literary and multimodal texts and possess the analytical foundation needed for independent enquiry. Completing the NEA early provides sufficient time for careful supervision, authentication and internal standardisation. It also allows students to apply Year 1 knowledge synoptically before focusing fully on the examined Paper 2 units.
