Including friction makes force models more realistic and helps students reason about limiting equilibrium and resisting motion. Conditional probability sharpens understanding of dependence and how new information changes likelihood.
scheduleWhy now? Once students are secure with forces, they can extend that thinking from linear motion to rotational situations. This revisits Year 12 force work early in Year 13, adding realism before students move on to moments and combined systems. Returning to Year 12 correlation once students have the probabilistic maturity to handle formal inference more securely. It builds naturally on Year 12 probability and prepares students for more sophisticated statistical modelling and inference.
