Periodic Motion
infoWhy this? Periodic motion allows us to model systems that repeat over time, including circular motion and simple harmonic oscillations. Connecting forces, energy, and frequency enables us to predict their behaviour and explain why resonance can be useful or damaging.
scheduleWhy now? Year 12 mechanics and waves provide the force, energy, and frequency concepts needed for a more mathematical treatment of repeating motion. Studying this early in Year 13 supports the subsequent analysis of orbits in Fields and their consequences and rotating systems in Engineering Physics.
