Evaluating explanations, crime data, social patterns, victimisation, and global forms of crime helps us analyse relationships between inequality, power, social control, and justice.

Earlier work on inequality and labelling supports this analysis, while the study of moral panics and representations of crime provides a connection to the media unit.
