infoWhy this? The unit is important as it examines how and why rules are made, broken and enforced, and who gets labelled “criminal”. You study ways of measuring crime (official statistics, victim surveys, self‑reports and the “dark figure”), social order and social control, and the role of the media in moral panics and fear of crime. You analyse patterns by class, gender, ethnicity and age, plus victimisation and the impact of globalisation. All things effecting our society.
