Language, thought and communication
infoWhy this? This topic develops students’ understanding of higher-order cognitive processes such as abstract thinking, communication, and the relationship between language and cognition. It introduces more theoretical debate (e.g. whether language shapes thought), strengthening evaluative and analytical skills.
scheduleWhy now? This topic is taught at the start of Year 11 because it builds directly on the cognitive foundations developed in Year 10 and allows students to engage with more abstract psychological theories once they have secure research and evaluation skills.
