infoWhy this? Perception extends students’ understanding of cognitive processing, introducing theories that challenge common-sense explanations (e.g. visual illusions, Gregory vs Gibson). It strengthens conceptual thinking and evaluative skills, particularly around the strengths and limitations of competing explanations.
scheduleWhy now? Having already studied Memory, students are now ready to compare and contrast different forms of cognitive processing. Perception builds on prior knowledge while increasing conceptual challenge. By this point in the year, students are better equipped to handle abstract explanations and structured evaluation required by higher-mark AQA questions.
