It offers opportunities to explore writer's voice through diaries and memoirs while connecting with PSHE and History through topics such as: resilience, human rights, prejudice and morality.

This unit is helping students develop their reading as they are going to encounter more challenging vocabulary in a variety of contexts allowing them to broaden their vocabulary, further supporting their understanding of more challenging texts later in the year. The unit includes assessment and teaching of elements of spelling, grammar and punctuation and this will help students retain and recall elements taught in KS2.
